Antoine Drye is a celebrated trumpet player. Throughout his 25 plus years career, Drye has worked across musical genres with a wide range of artists including his mentors Ellis Marsalis and Harold Battiste and others like Delfeayo Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Wessell Anderson, Brian Blade, Victor Goines, John Boutte, Kermit Ruffins, Henry Butler, Valery Ponomarev, Daniel Lanois, Wilson Pickett, Houston Person, Roy Hargrove Big Band, Tim Warfield, Mark Gross, The Mingus Big Band, The Count Basie and Duke Ellington Orchestras, Lafayette Harris, Paul Simon, David Torkanowsky, Will Terrill, Jesse McBride, Anthony Wonsey, Reggie Quinerly, The Brand New Heavies, Mike Longo, Mark Whitfield, Donald Edwards, Taylor Mac and Justin Vivian Bond, among many others.
Drye graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts (HS diploma - 1990), University of New Orleans (BM - 1995) and Aaron Copland School of Music (MM - 2005). Yet, it’s his on-the-job training and relationships that have most significantly shaped his playing and career.
Currently, Drye lives and works in New York City, where prior to Covid19 he could be heard in local clubs like Dizzy’s, Smalls, Fat Cat, Smoke Jazz Bistro, The Jazz Standard, Mezzrow and other venues in the city and around the world. Drye has 2 self-released albums, Oblation and Oblation vol. II: Dualism. Drye is also a partner at the Samurai Hotel Recording Studio, along w/founder David Stoller and drummer Donald Edwards.
